Researching on the internet, scenographic set model boxes. I found some really great ones which could be a good influence. In terms of colour these picture show moods very well.
Blue and Green.
Examples of white set model boxes, helps me with the initial idea of how small or big things should be in comparison to size/scale.
This model box is much like how mine will be in the sense of being simple. Geometric shapes and muted colours (bland).
These two are good influences for trees. I like how one of them the trees are upside down, gives great mysteriousness and fantasy to it.
The second picture also excites me, its very simple with few trees, (simple being the outlined trees with black a clear cylinder)but very viney. Too viney for my model box.

Struggling with wolf ideas: i have a image in my mind of what i want him to look like, but finding it hard to get the design down on paper. Obviously using cubism as a genre i still have to keep him to simple geometric shapes, but also want him to be recognisable as a wolf. Need him to be grey with bright red evil eyes and a nasty but cheeky grin about his face. Any ideas?

New change of ideas.
Using Nutcracker as an influence in costume design and colours to show intentions, moods and feelings.
As in the Nutcracker ,whit and gold are used to show innocence and happiness hen they dance together, looking on to my scene i was thinking of keeping the same cubism shapes, but toneing down on the colours to show moods, intention and feelings more clearly but still fitting in with cubism as the colours for cubism were always very muted anyway.
RED CAP
She will be dressed in white, with only a red cape and red long tights and ballet slippers, with a large tutu. (just as in Nutcracker) props: white basket. The white is to show the innocence and purity of her, red cap to show who/ her status.
WOLF
In very dark grey, and bright red eyes to show evilness, but with a great big teethy smile. (tricking red cap)
Flower and trees: will be white with a touch of gold, showing pure nature.
Gold/yellow light to shine when wolf states "look how beautiful the forest is" to lead red cap off the path.
Path and background will be grey to show depth and darkness of the forest.
When Red cap and Wolf are chatting A white light will shine on the both of them.

Working with foam board: making sides / edges neat without any foam showing.
A 90 degree angle.
First, using a engineer square and a sharp cutting knife, practise cutting straight lines, using the excess strips cut off, cut 2 squares. On 1 square made a cut but not all the way through, just enough, so i could scrape off the foam, leaving the card attached. Glued the other square on. Now i have neat edge. (as so) Mine did go a bit dodgy, lucky it were a test!
Can stil see foam on the surrounding edges: to cover the surrounding edges, using cartridge paper cut some strips the same with as edge, then simply glued on, cutting angles where needed.

Sketch Model
Trees: Again sam green paper painted for more effect and rolled up then pushed up to give the cylinder look. Then using green an white pipe cleaner wrapped these around the cylinder trunk to make the square branches and leaves.
Sketch Model
Slides: Using green card painted to make it look more tree like. (brown and yellow paint) Cut to the correct size and folded a tab at the bottom then stuck a lolly stick on to make it easier to slide in and out.
Sketch Model
Next created a front arch for my model box. ( keeping in tag with the Margate Theatre Royal) Measured a piece of card to the same size as the back drop. Folded the card in half and cut an arch out. Made some tabs on the bottom to attach the front arch to the floor of the model. Painted up the arch to match the backdrop. tried sticking the arch to the front of box but it was to heavy and not stable enough. To make it more stable added wooden lolly sticks to the back, this made it more secure but still to heavy. Made more tabs to fix from the front arch to the backdrop. This then held the box nice and stable.
Sketch Model
Painted a sheet on A4 paper with browns, blue and white to create a grey colour for the backdrop and floor. Cut these to the correct size of the white set already made, glued these on. ( needs to be flipped to the right)
Cut out a long cylinder shape to symbolise the path. Drew some pebbles on and coloured them in, three shades of grey. Glued this onto the floor of the stage. ( flipped to the right)

Changed idea slightly, still sticking with cubism, but as Chris pointed out the costume ( little red cap) looked like / reminded him of Triadic Ballet, i decided to look into ballet. (the idea of ballet has also helped me in my head with a further idea for my wolf costume). Cubism/ ballet. ETC Nutcracker.
From looking at previous post, i have concluded that i already looked into Triadic Ballet costume and this is where i got my original idea from. Looking at the Nutcracker also, to find that the Redcap's costume and pose is very/ almost exactly the same as hers. Obviously my design is very more plain and has a much more simple shape to it, whereas in the Nutcracker she has a much more fluffy and detailed tutu skirt.

Sketch Model
Beginnings of my sketch model ( not to scale ).
Foam board A4 cut in half then stuck back together to form a base.
No colour added yet.
Obviously this is flipped on its side, as i cannot get it to turn around.

Sketch design
Grey pebbled path, which Red Cap is standing on, want these pebbles to be lumpy and bumpy. Small flowers in grey along the edge of the pebbled path. Two big green square slides to emphasise the green bushiness. Large and small trees within the forest all green. Yellow light is sunlight. Red Cap will also be holding a basket ( Grey) with the contents of bottle of wine and two cup cakes.

Do not yet have a clear design or idea in my head or on paper for how i would like my wolf to appear. i know i want him to have big green eyes which look friendly, but have evil poking through. Definitely want him to be a dark grey colour, but i am struggling with a design using geometric shapes to make him look wolfy.
To the left is what i have come up with so far. The spikes defining his fur but with an evilness.

Red Cap: Herself
Shapes for her body: Sphere - Head, Rectangle - Body, Half a Sphere - Skirt and Triangles - Legs. She will wear red long knee high socks and a red cap which drapes over the body shapes. Have not yet decided on the material for her cap, but was thinking either a plastic rain mac look or red velvet, (both very different) am leaning towards the plastic mac and socks.
Red Cap: Flowers
Flowers, are simply made from a sphere for the flower head and pointed cone for the stem. ( picture laying on side, so the flower head to the left and stem to the right) The colour is grey for the flowers and they will lay along the edge of the path that that Red Cap is meant to stick to. they will only be seen when the bright sunlight (yellow) shines through the trees and lets say brings them to life.
Red Cap: Trees
Keeping my trees very simple, all one colour but different shades, green. Lighter greens for the leaves, which belong as half oval and square shapes, then having the trunks darker greens to give the effect of a tree trunk. trunks being cylinder shapes, consisting of three cylinders one large at the bottom then medium in middle and small at the top. I am going to have a minimum amount of trees, but going to have a square slide in board on either side of stage, painted in a block of green,( seen in a lot of Bauhaus stage design, i really like the simplicity of them)which will slide in and out. Trees will only be style all over my stage, Simple.
Cubism: Little Red Cap - mood board
Mood Board, consisting of all my ideas for my set design, showing design, colours and shapes.
As you can see the colours i have choose are minimal, but effective. ( Cubism style). I have used the colours on the main characters and props that i wanted to stand out and have the most attention. Stuck to red only on Red Cap's Cape, used shades of green for the trees, grey for everything else. Grey will give the dark/dullness as i want it to appear in the first instance, just as in the Grimm tale, but u can still see the greeness of the forest. When Red Cap meets the Wolf (he will be a darker shade of grey with BIG green eyes) and hell tells her to see the forest in its beauty from the bright sunlight (enters/turns on a big yellow light) everything will brighten up and the flowers will become apparent and trees much brighter.

Bauhaus Costume
Bauhaus
Bauhaus Stage
Looking at Stage set that Bauhaus has created. Again the use of simple shapes to make a dramatic effect. colour is very mute ( less intense). keeps to shades of one colour. tends to use a lot of square or rectangular screens on his sets.

Architecture
Use of light, Guggenheim Museum
This is just use of natural light/weather, but from this i can still see/ be a mood set.
The use of sunlight in this particular picture, makes the museum feel warm and very inviting/ interesting than usual. Building looks more gold and yellow.
But yet the picture to the right is obviously on a wet cold and rainy day, not very inviting. almost looks spooky in a way. Building itself looks very grey.

Architecture
Cubism: looking at different architecture which has used cubism as a big influence, within the structure of the buildings. How the use of geometric shapes have been used to form the building, also the use of light to create different mood/colour.
Focusing mainly on the Guggenheim, Jewish Museum in Bilbao City.
From the picture, i can see that the building is made up from simple geometric shapes (big part of cubism), they are very stiff structured shapes. Building is made form titanium and is meant to represent Fish scales. ( movement of the river) I love the simpleness of it, burt yet it creates such a dramatic effect. I would like to incorporate this in my set design some how.
The cubism movement is also continued inside the building.

Narrative and Genre
I am looking at The Grimm Fairy Tale "Little Red-Cap". Scene, in the forrest where little red cap meets the wolf and he persuades her to wander away from the path and into the depths of the forrest to pick flowers.
Have been looking in to different genre's such as Cubism, Horror (zombie) and Subculture. Mainly been looking at Cubism, Picasso's work (paintings), George Braque and Fernand Picabia.
looking at cubism trees as in my scene there will be numerous trees used, plus flowers.
